Deathcab for Kerry
I know no career minded rocker type is gonna be pro-Bush, but it is so obnoxious to be told that I should join forces with MoveOn.org at a fricking rockshow. I’m sorry that the election “was a real bummer” for Deathcab but really, less talkin’, more rockin’. My extremely reasonable roommate said it nicely, “I would have liked Kerry to win too, but that’s just not cool.” At least they were comp tickets.
Or John Kerry.
Yet strangely, Bill Clinton got away with playing the sax. Perhaps this is because it wasn’t yet another gee-tar.
Listening to musicians talking politics is almost as painful as watching Tony Blair rocking-out with his gee-tar.
I saw Gibbard in DC with Postal Service last year, and I don’t remember any political ranting. But I doubt dilettante indie rockers pay much attention to presidential politics a year and then some prior to Election Day.
BTW, I read an interview with Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock when “Good News” came out this year. He expressed his extreme displeasure with the president, but promised to keep it out of his music. Good man.
If you could get Ruff to go to, I dunno, not Joggers, you’d be ahead. He likes 6th street and Joe’s too. And those places don’t suck.
Nya nya. You went to see Death Cab and got a liberal ear-full, while I went to Joggers…. and wasted another potetially productive evening drinking with the usual people.
Nevermind. You hold the winning hand. I’ll go with you next time. Just give me more notice, yo!
Sorry for the double post. The thing told me I had to re-submit my post…so I did…Weird.
I had an even worse experience at the Death Cab show. Their merch girl is a bitch. My tickets were comped…but I left in the middle of Pretty Girls Make Graves.
