And I agree with *shudder* Nader: here
I maintain my disagreement with Nader.
I saw hotel rwanda during the break, but the one line that “made me” hit the seat was when the UN colonel said that we all think Africa is full of a bunch of “n–” and we don’t care. I wanted the throw up, to fight, to cry becuase the pure evil going on there is unfathomable to me…
maybe im not a libertairian if I say this but why not send troops? If there is any duty I think the government has it is to prevent the killing of innocents, especially hundreds of thousands! I would be proud to go there and serve, that would truly be doing the right thing. Those poor people, may God bless thier Souls. :(
I agree, we apparently don’t care when Genocide happens to Africans. Rwanda, Darfur, Zimbabwe, the screw up in Somalia. I’m a firm believer that American force can be used for good, and that the current Middle East is looking more hopeful. Why can’t we help Africa, too? Will that be the next great American project? I doubt it.
Well, the problem lies at the heart of those piles of shit sitting on 6th and High Street holding, “Bring the troops home. Stop the war. No Blood for Oil. Blame Bush.” signs… are they still there? It has been a year, I’d really admire their determination if they were.
Keep in mind we ventured briefly into Africa in one of the most subtle ways possible.. and once we lost.. what, less than a dozen (?) soliders in a single skirmish the public outcry to get the hell out of the country prompted our then pussy president/gov’t to pull the stakes.
With that said, do we really want to commit our military to be the world police force when we’ve got a nice bureaucratic agency in the U.N. that should be doing that for the world? I mean, since their so efficient and all.. look at the way they handled Kosovo.. (cough)
Personally.. I think the next stop for our military should be Turkey. Why? Check our their top *TWO* selling books this year.
