We have a pope; I can finally sleep again.
He’s already 78 years old so we get to go through all this again in a handful of years. Calls himself “a simple, humble worker in the vineyard of the Lord,” and he certainly looks like a drinker.

Well the HJ were mandatory starting 1936, enforcement was upped in 1939, Pope Benedict XVI was put into service in 1941 when he was 14 (as required by Hitler). His parents likely would’ve been killed had he not gone, and I think he deserted the Nazi army in 1945 IIRC.
There might be reasons not to like the guy’s selection, but I really don’t think the HJ thing holds any water.
Well, poison was the favorite among Romans of the 14th Century…
Again, 4-5 years with the death either by natural causes or homicide.
murdered? by who? this isnt the 14th century anymore… after what happened to JP2, its not the easiest thing to get to the pope… and the swiss guard (who protects him) is one of the most elite organizations on earth… and even tho he dont look too shabby for 78, it is very likely he wont have a pontificate longer than ten years, i do agree with you there…
Ex-Nazi youth, although he says he was forced into service.
I give Benny 16 about 4-5 years before he either dies of illness or is murdered.
He’ll be a great leader, just one who has a lot of enemies around him.
definitely looks like a good guy… and hes a conservative who will continue the policies of JPII, old age suggests transition pope, so we’ll have to see how it all pans out…
