We almost forgot…. GO BLAZERS!

That’s right bitches, we got the number one pick in the NBA draft! So who are we going to pick? Is Oden the perfect compliment to LaMarcus Aldridge? Will Durant become the next Chosen One, making Oden the next Sam Bowie? Does an Oden pick mean Z-Bo has to go? Will the Blazers stun everyone with their idiocy and trade away the pick? So much speculation, so little time.

Discuss here, here, here, or here.

Why would anybody want to trade Z-Bo? He’s about the only Blazer left who regularly goes to the Hozone layer.

  2. Olly says:

Kevin Pritchard was just on PTI saying that the guy they’re going to pick has a “D” in his last name. So they’re not ruling out Al Horford yet.

  3. Niedermeyer says:

Right, so the concern is not that one of these players will end up sucking, but rather that one will simply eclipse the other. As I mentioned, there’s no bad choice between the two. I might prefer to see Durant and Roy leading a faster-paced, run-and-gun offense, but adding Oden could well generate more consistent results.

Oh, and the Garnett idea is silly. The only trade idea I’ve heard that makes any sense, would be picking Oden, then trading Randolph for a Rashard Lewis, or some other star small forward. I dunno though…

“Will Durant become the next Chosen One, making Oden the next Sam Bowie?”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Sam Bowie was the second pick in that draft. Oden, in this bizarre analogy of yours, would be Hakeem Olajuwon. (Which would have been, you know, fine.)

I’ve had a good chance to watch what Oden has done as a freshman with his shooting hand broken. Although it’s impossible to foretell the future, this pick is still a no-brainer, and I never dreamed the Blazers would have it. If Durant turns out to be the greatest player in history, the Blazers will feel bad. If aliens come from Mars to kidnap LaMarcus Aldridge, the Blazers will also feel bad. At this stage, there’s no accounting for either possibility.

Lee: Kevin Garnett just turned 31 this week.

  5. Lee says:

ODEN. Watch the blazers trade it for Garnett….

  6. Timothy says:

    First one since 1992.

  7. Niedermeyer says:

It’s such a great problem to have… Durant, Oden, Oden, Durant

Ok, I’ll go with Durant. Darius Miles is going nowhere, and they need some size and speed at the three spot. Not picking Oden is tough, but with Aldridge developing like he is, and Zach playing (fairly) consistently, Durant’s versatility could make the offense more flexible.

This will be a fun year for Blazer fans.
