Blount Force Trauma [Update]

Watch LaGarrette Punch Someone

Alright, well the Ducks lost tonight. That’s not really a big deal, to be perfectly honest. We’ve all been ready for a letdown ever since Dennis’ knee went all kablooey on us.

Really the best part of the night was when LaGarrett Blount punched a Boise State player right in the jaw. It makes the guy look like a jackass (on national TV no less), but in Blount’s defense it was probably a Zinedine Zidane situation: the guy probably deserved to get one in the face.

LaGarrett, I’m sure your reasoning was perfectly sound. I’m glad to see you’re so fired up–that’s what we need. None of this “Nick Aliotti let-them-have-as-many-yards-as-they-want-bend-and-not-break” bullshit.

According to multiple sources, including the Oregon Daily Emerald and The Oregonian, LaGarrette Blount has been suspended for the remainder of the season, but will inexplicably be keeping his scholarship, allowing him to attend school and use the same resources as other athletes.

No word yet on why this decision was made, but it’s a head scratcher. Additionally, I’m personally looking forward to see just what was uttered to Blount by Boise St. player Byron Hout. In all likelyhood the University of Oregon, particularly the Athletic Department, will keep a muzzle on Blount, leaving interested fans and students alike out of the loop. Can we get a lip-reader on this, please?

New video link since ESPN cried copyright (for a 30-second clip) on the original:

    “Likelyhood”?

I’m wondering how the rest of the team will take the news. They were already yelling at Kelly on the sidelines during the game.

    Mutiny on the Blounty?

  3. Vincent says:

No doubt his grades warrant the scholarship. I’m sure he’s a real warrior-poet once you get to know him.

Blount suspended for the season but gets to keep his scholarship!? That’s just about the opposite of what I would have done. He should have been suspended like 4-6 games and had his scholarship withdrawn, then been allowed to rejoin the team as a walk-on player.

  5. Vincent says:

It’s because Oregon always marches around acting like they’re God’s gift to football, when in reality they’re a fairly mediocre team.

That’s my problem with ’em at least.

  6. I don’t understand the animosity that other fans have for Oregon (outside of the Blount meltdown).

It’s not like we’re consistently running around with criminal players. We’re not the SEC, ya know.

And it’s not like Oregon fans are the worst in the country. Yeah, we’ll talk a little trash but it always seems (to me) that Oregon fans take waaay more crap than they give.

OSU fans and that Greg guy from above seem to typify people’s reactions to UO teams, especially football.

It’s just sad really because most of the football players that I’ve met are pretty nice guys, if a little slow at times.

I posted a couple of Youtube vids in the favorites section of my channel of him struggling with the cops all the way out in case you have not seen those.

  8. Vincent says:

What do you mean “too bad”? Stupid fuck ought to be thrown out of the University.

  9. Greg says:

Last night, the Ducks just proved that they are a totally weak team of poor sports. Blount is a pathetic player that makes Oregon look like a carnival act. BSU manned up and treated the Ducks like cheap red light, hookers. BSU controlled that game and showed the nation that Oregon was OVERRATED to the max. Blount’s childish temper tantrum was just the icing on the cake. A sucker punch at the end of the game on national TV. That should make Eugene proud.

Oregon is gonna get worked by Utah and any other quality team they face. Their coach doesn’t know how to win a game of NCAA Football 10 let alone an actual game. The rest of the Pac-10 is gonna eat you guys alive and I’m gonna be laughing all year long. Go BSU!!!!

  10. Antovich says:

hahaha. I know it’s bad but the way the guy hit the ground is hilarious. Too bad Blount won’t see the field for a month

  11. nike urbanism duk says:

Ah yes, a new chapter in the self-destructing Duck saga. Quite a debut for Chipster. Brings back sweet memories of the Duck mascot antics. Clearly that mascot and the flaming Roboduck orchestrated all the chaos as a marketing stunt. What a proud day for residents of this Nike cesspool. At least they looked super snazzy in the new uniforms. Was it a case of “roid rage” ?

  12. What’s not to love?

That other guy had a jaw made of glass.

  13. Dane says:

I had a fun time watching it, that’s to be sure

  14. Vincent says:

In any case, I bet this dimestore pugilist is still getting more scholarship money than I ever will. Though I use the word “scholar” advisedly.

  15. Vincent says:

So the Ducks lose their first game (after Chip Kelley says there’s no reason they can’t win every single game this season) and one of their big players acts like a punkass thug and decides to punch someone in the face on national television?

I can already tell this is going to be a season I will enjoy.
