In an emergency City Council meeting last Tuesday, the City Council voted 5-2 to begin dismantling the Occupy Eugene camp immediately. The council was called by Mayor Piercy after an increase in assaults reported at the camp. The Occupiers are saying that they won’t go quietly, and Occupy spokesperson Jamil Jonna told the ODE, that the Eugene Police “are setting the stage for a very ugly conflict that can so easily be avoided.”
