Goin live at 7pm!
Nick Ekblad and Miles Sisk reporting tonight.
Senator intro questions… Who is your favorite author?
I would definitely have to say Snooki
NE: Who is Nicholas Sparks?
NE: Ben Rudin likes the intro questions. He’s a gossiper.
NE: Jane Austin …Booooo
NE: University Health Center ,000 spent on HIV testing this year… GO DUCKS!
NE: ,000 in free Chlamydia testing for the ’12-’13 school year so far.
NE: President McCain won the dance off that I WAS NOT invited to last night… sad face.
NE: Wise was declared loser, got served.
MS: Dance off between Lamar Wise and Nick McCain? sounds intense.
NE: 77% of students said that the program pushed them to quit smoking… I’ve heard quite the opposite from fellow students who had not so great experiences with seeking help through STFU in the Health Center.
NE: Lubash calls for stories from the community that would help support having better qualified healthcare providers made availabl, stories from the LGBTQA, Veteran’s Family and Student Association, etc.
NE: Rudin: NO SIDEBARS!
NE: Prospective EMU boardmember stands before ASUO Senate, applying for position. He’s a College Republican interning under Ben Bowman… Wha?
Some standard no-toe-stepping-on questions, and the yields have it: Brent Rovianek positioned to EMU board.
NE: Reid Stender standing before Senate talking sports and different “factions” on campus. Looking to be placed in ACFC
NE: Reid Stender affirms that, yes, he does indeed know what “Ay” means. He’s a yes-man.
NE: Stender “thinks” he’s an “independent person,” …oh man, don’t make it so easy.
NE: Stender notes that “Daily Emeralds are always thrown all over the place,” …I don’t know why he brought that up, but I can’t stop laughing.
NE: Iran Working Group approved by Senate. IWG will work to take a stance against Iran’s obtainment of nuclear weapons. What spry young students. I hope they enlist in the military.
NE: Talkin’ Tuition Equity up in here
NE: How many times will Sam Dotters-Katz say “Y’all”?
NE: I’m all about that Tuition Equity. If we force those kids through primary and secondary education, we might as well grace them with higher education.
NE: Is the TE group asking Senate about immigration? Todo al reverso.
NE: No SSNs for educated TE recipients, but there is indeed a current system in place for naturalizing college graduates. TE also addresses the improvement of that process.
MS: I support having more educated people in Oregon, regardless of citizenship status. Lets important some brains!
NE: …nice immigration/education debate going on for a minute there, but then it descended into playing devils advocate (or trying too hard to sound intelligent, not sure which).
But damn. Anyway, this is fucking America. We are immigrants.
NE: Business community of [the state of?] Oregon fully supports Tuition Equity Bill, according to Jeremy Hedlund.
NE: Tuition Equity Bill passes ASUO Senate with 2-3 “nays”.
NE: Stipend authorization forms passed out.
NE: Ben Rudin, talking EMU Board meetings and some shotty attendance. *Oooooh* *Heckles from the crowd*
NE: Rudin WILL file a grievance on your ass if you don’t show up to your committee meetings, Senate. Watch out for the Rudin!
NE: Rudin says, “Take it outside!”
NE: Blah blah blah…. No resolution was reached on OSPIRG in ACFC…. OSPIRG to go back up for request on Monday around 9[pm?]
NE: More talk on Band funding. Meeting to be held in Columbia 150 on some day…
NE: Senator Bowman toots everyones horn regarding the “aBANDonment” of the band.
NE: Senate almost over… I can almost taste the beer!
MS: The DFC will be holding their hearing regarding the Marching Band tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. In COL 150. Be there if yosaw ant to support the band!
NE: Athletics funds about 2/3 of Band’s budget. Oregon Band currently performs at a plethora of events, not just football games.
NE: Mubaya on stipend model, “I’ve said this for 2 years now, it’s screwing us over,” talks about programs asking for stipends, then want more programming funds, then don’t do anything with it. Basically, the Oregon Commentator kicks ass for working on complete student-volunteer basis.
NE: beer…. beer….. beer….. beer… beer…..
NE: Point of Clarification! Does the Student Insurgent still recieve stipends for sending campus publications (student money) to convicts?
MS: Meeting adjourned!
