Did we rock the vote?

Doing a Google News search on “young voters” turns up a bunch of articles that proclaim that the youth vote this year was monumental, and another batch that says youngsters didn’t turn out to the polls as much as expected. Huh.

MTV announced that 21 million people under that age of 30 voted in this year’s election, up from 18 million in 2000. Voteordierockthevote!! WOO!!!11!

    Onion headline from yesterday:
Poll: Youth Totally Meant To Vote In Record Numbers

  2. Sho says:

Should we just post comment spam with the phrase, “Being libertarian is just simply more fun. TITS!” on pundit blogs? Hmm, then again, I guess it wouldn’t be too much different than the comment spam that’s already out there. TITS!

    For serious.

Hey, what the hell is Joe Blow on about? We should introduce him to Dinah, and they can just email these form letters to each other.

  5. Danimal says:

Tits tits tits. I am so glad this blog has generally remained free of both the right’s triumphalism and the left’s fatalism. Being libertarian is just simply more fun. TITS!

I spent last night flipping between every election coverage special on cable television and the mainstream media was pissed. After early indications that Kerry would roll in a landside the news got progressively worse for them as the night wore on. Once it was clear that Ohio would go to Bush, only Fox news and NBC(and affiliates)
would acknowledge that Bush had actually won it. Tom Brokaw continually apologized for having called it. When things looked really grim, results came in from New Hampshire and Hawaii. You would have thought Wolf Blitzer had finally passed a massive kidney stone he was so relieved to finally announce these 8 votes for Kerry. Yet he and every other news organization besides Fox remained in complete denial and dejection of the elections eventual outcome. My favorite comment of the night came from Dan Rather. After announcing that Ken Salazaar had defeated Pete Coors in Colorado, Rather said “A silver bullet through the heart of Pete Coors”.

The media bias in this country is ridiculous.

Tits? What does voting have to do with tits?

Answer, before Dan even get there: EVERYTHING. Voting has everything to do with tits.

Good point casey. I think they also cater to the frats and sororities.

  11. Jan says:

In the infamous words (sort of) of Cartman, “Voting is so TITS!”

When is the media going to stop linking MTV to anyone under 30? I’m 24, and I think that MTV sucks balls. I could be wrong, but 13 year-old halter-top wearing girls still can’t register to vote in the states, which, as far as I can tell, is MTV’s actual demographic. And do people named “Gideon” and “Sway” exist anywhere but on MTV?

  13. Danimal says:

Led to the polls by our fellow youth — Bruce Springsteen, 55; John Mellencamp, 53; Eddie Vedder, 39; and P. Diddy, 34 — we did indeed rock the vote. It’s like those movies where 20-somethings play teenagers, only worse. Rock!

  14. Andy D says:

I heard some frosh say that the voter turn out for the campus was 26%
