I have a creeping suspicion the “mainstream” media won’t be calling for Moran’s head anytime soon. Shocking. An updated version of Pete’s link from yesterday. Anyway, when you put this statement alongside ABC News reporter Terry Moran‘s questioning of Pres. Bush during last week’s news conference, it has to be noted that there sure seem to be a lot of morons named Moran lurking around the DC area. March 10th, 2003 by peteThe Grades Are In! Here’s the news-brief that ran in the ODE this morning regarding the theft of our issues. C- March 10th, 2003 by peteGuess Who’s Back The compromised second draft of the Oregon Commentator is now online. Gone are the typos and naughty words. Still in place: The Oregon Voice Nobody Page, now called “Preemptive Parody.” March 10th, 2003 by TimothyThe Blogfather, he’s like Brando without the grapes in his mouth. Over at Glenn Reynolds.com he describes about how I feel perfectly. March 10th, 2003 by ShoI want my money and I want it fast. Stephen Lynch, the man behind classic songs such as “Bitch,” “Best Friends Song,” and “Lullaby (The Divorce Song)” will be playing on Tuesday, March 18 at the Wild Duck. It looks like the show will be ‘all ages’ so get your drinking done beforehand. March 9th, 2003 by TimothyFifth Column Indeed Have I mentioned lately how much I detest the anti-war left? Seems they’ll resort to creating disruptions of everyday business for people just to be heard. Reminds me of a friend’s 10-year-old brother, cries and screams whenever things don’t go his way. This protest crap in light of Al Queda planning to kill kids, Saddam having drones to drop chemical weapons, Blix burying that information 178 pages deep in his report, the French selling spare-parts to Saddam, and a whole host of other happenings. Rome is burning and these kids want to play the fiddle. Only this time it’s the Jews they’re blaming instead of the Christians and they’re a little more subtle than Nero. I’m so angry I can barely put words to it, but I can say this…shut up; you stupid, misguided, naieve kids. Shut up and go home. Your logical faculties are obviously damaged beyond all recompense, so civil discourse with you will not make you understand. So, I quit. From now on I will resort to ad hominem attacks, backbiting, and every other underhanded tactic to make you feel guilty about your viewpoint; assuming that you kids have conciences, which I’m not quite convinced of at this point. Thus, because civil discourse cannot solve the issue, at least do the rest of humanity a service and be quiet so we can get some damn sleep. Enough. Yeah, yeah, you’ve got a right and all. I know, but at least understand that peacable assebly does not include stopping traffic, disrupting classes, smashing windows, screaming obscenities at passersby who might disagree with your idiocy, or violently comparing the President to one Adolf Hitler. Megaphones require a permit, so do parades, non-amplified speech and assembly in a park do not. I’m tired of hearing you suckers when I’m trying to take a damn test, or write down some notes so I could God forbid do well in school. I’m going to bed now. For something sweeter than this, click here. March 8th, 2003 by peteBleat Down Check out James Lilecks rebuttal to the idiocy of ABC News idiot savant Terry Moran. March 8th, 2003 by BrettWhere’s Horowitz when you need him??? A two year college in Southern Cal is apologizing to President Bush for allowing a teacher to require her students to write protest letters about the Iraq situation. The sad thing is, this isn’t the first time said professor has acted in this manner. Kudos for the apology, but the teacher needs to be given some sort of disciplinary action, not for voicing an opinion, but for forcing it upon her students. Its sad to see that the UO faculty has so many dogmatic brethren scattered across the diversity-of-thought devoid landscape that is leftist academia. The Horrowitz speech was right to attack this sort of one-sided crap presented by somone who is supposed to teach students, not hand them their oppinions on a silver platter. I wonder if Jane Cramer will be instituting similar letter writing requirements in her classes this spring, as these two seem cut from the same deformed mold. March 7th, 2003 by peteBrothers in Links A quick shout out to a few odd pages that link to us: This guy seems to be an anti-left libertarian. This guy likes Phillip K. Dick, so he’s alright in my book. Thanks for the support! March 7th, 2003 by peteDUMPED! Almost all of our issues were dumped this morning. At least 80% of the run. We’re looking to get this issue reprinted, but obviously this still sucks ass. It’s simply a sad commentary on this University that students no longer value free-speech. I know I always say that, but the fact remains… Stand by the UO bookstore March 7th, 2003 by Bret“Heartbreaking” Apparently, we got our goal in spades, boys. We made Voice staffers cry. Voice editor: It was really heartbreaking to see all the hard work my staff has done turned into crap like that. The problem is that it takes two months for them to come up with crap like that. Commentator retort: The Voice is just mad that we can do in two pages what they can’t do in 24, which is entertain readers March 6th, 2003 by BretAll Eyes On DC While one hippie protester shut down the Capitol area for a few minutes today, Bush has announced a huge speech tonight @ 5 pm local time. It’s supposed to be about the success of war on terror, but if Drudge is right, then he already made his decision to go to Iraq and will hit on that. Hopefully everyone will tune in. Meanwhile, Iraq and re-election are connected in a game of Texas Hold ‘Em in which the downed economy will be revived by sitting on Iraq’s oil supplies. At least the good news is recently successful brother Jeb is making Bush 2004 a high priority. Somebody holla back about finding a watering hole … or mole hole … in to watch the speech tonight. March 6th, 2003 by peteYou’ve Got A Grievance! The Oregon Voice has filed a grievance against us for our nobody page Voice mock up! Yeah! What would have been an inside joke between two publications will now be a front page story on the Emerald. Way to go, Voice… March 6th, 2003 by Skeletor OgboggleEntertainment Weekly has a nice round-up of celebrity musicians debating whether or not to protest war with Iraq. Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne puts it well: ”When I’m sitting at home and I see pop stars acting like they know what’s going on, I’m like, ‘Come on.'” Yes, Wayne, you are correct. With this poignant debate in full-force, we the public are left to wonder if this wasn’t the death of the short-lived Sheryl Crow/Kid Rock affair… |
