Go read the Wired article about the special effects. Nobody else is going to be doing this kind of stuff for years. This movie… this movie will be three times as good as The Two Towers, four times as good as the new X-men flick and not even comparable to any of the new Star Wars movies. This will be legendary… “I’ll never forget the first time I saw that movie” legendary. They need to play this movie in downtown Baghdad. In theaters all over Iran. Just try and deny them American culture after that. Seriously. Thomas Friedman needs to write a column about it. Anything would be better than his latest “Bush/ Saddam” correspondence. May 2nd, 2003 by wwbNo Vacancies If the Oregon Commentator was a fledgling student group at Donna Shalala’s University of Miami, it’s more than likely that the OC would be turned down for official recognition. That’s exactly what happened to students hoping to found Advocates for Conservative Thought:
You see, Miami already has a conservative student group — the College Republicans — and by the board’s reasoning, that’s enough. Hmph. The students have enlisted the help of University of Pennsylvania professor Charles Kors, who wrote the following to the board in support of the group:
Precisely. May 1st, 2003 by ollyCash Money Millionaires One Step Closer To World Domination At long last, the OED has started drafting an entry for bling bling. And to think I only had to write them one letter a week for the last three years. Those guys are total pushovers. May 1st, 2003 by petePosts Galore Nat Hentoff has a really good article on conservatives fighting for civil liberties— re: opposition to the Patriot Act, or at least insurance that the “sunset” clause remains intact. Pound Magazine used to offer a section called “pound for pound” in which heavyweights like Al Gore and Busta Rhymes went round for round in a freestyle rap competition. Make sure you check out Chef Raekwon versus The Chef from South Park. Here’s a shocker: Jack Osbourne has checked into a rehab clinic for alcohol abuse. And he’s seventeen. Can’t for wait the “talking points” on this one. And has anybody been watching the playoffs? Not those playoffs, you damn canucks, I’m talking about the real playoffs. So I guess your precious Blazers have some momentum heading into game six— at Portland. Good. I hope they win. Dallas has no chance of beating Sacramento, and I think Portland would be a better warm-up for C-Webb and company. They’ve got to be ready to face the Lakers, who in all likelihood are going to finish off Minnesota tonight. Yeah… I know LA still has to play San Antonio (maybe Phoenix), but join me in rooting for LA. Know matter how much you hate the Lakers—and I fucking hate the Lakers—just think how cool a Sacramento/ LA rematch would be. If Sacramento wins the title without beating LA in the playoffs, it will be a hollow victory. The Pistons had to beat the Celtics. The Bulls had to beat the Pistons. It’s tradition. And I wasn’t going to post this, but here goes… check out this great article from the Exile about the future of the American Empire. It’s obviously left-leaning, but it’s pretty funny. And if you need some comic relief, go back in the archives and read some of Mark Ames “Whore-R” stories, where he interviews local prositutes before sleeping with them. Great stuff. May 1st, 2003 by BretThe Dem lies continue … Democrats as people don’t lie any more or less than any other group. But their leading Pres. candidates seem to forget a lot of history … including their own personal history. Al Gore couldn’t remember that he didn’t take a trip with the head of FEMA down to Texas, and John Kerry can’t remember his first speech as a Senator. Pattern? I can’t say so outright, because pols are pols. But there is something uneasy about it all. |
