Foreign Correspondence
Greetings to all from the fair city of Sydney. I’m still homeless and basically indigent, but despite my material suffering I can’t help but wonder: how was the People’s Practical Petition for Peace, or whatever it was called, received? Has the war machine finally been driven from the palace of higher learning? Have Bogart and Goldman worked out some sort of timeshare agreement for the EMU amphitheater, or are they doing a Simon and Garfunkel-style act? Enquiring minds want to know.
Olly Ruff? I remember him.
Just don’t make anymore of those “secret films”, Olly.
Easier to do that if you’re an acclaimed film director, so get on that too.
God speed, Olly. Keep fighting that extradition, buddy. Statutory rape laws are so arbitrary…
Oddly, none of this seems to be in the ODE. Oh well.
oh, he was there, don’t worry.
Glad you arrived safely, Olly. It isn’t the same here without you.
After converging briefly on the Johnson Hall steps with a modest band of sympathizers Monday morning, Bogart set up shop on the big lawn across the street with a few chairs and a big banner that was laid out on the grass. He’s been there all week, sitting with one or two other people– possibly his Peace Studies professors, since he’s apparently boycotting class and his companions look sort of old. Mostly people are ignoring him, but occasionally people will be seen to stop and humor him for a moment or two. I walked past once and heard him declare, “Oh yeah, these guys, this… insidious government… they’re just getting away with it now… they’re above the law.”
Someone should get him in touch with Zach Vishanoff– it seem he’s becoming an expert in the connecting of dots.
