Ducks make Tournament
The Oregon Ducks made the NCAA tournament, which begins Thursday. The Ducks are a No. 9 seed and play Mississippi State in the first round. The Bulldogs finished 21-9 overall and won the Western Division of the SEC. The Ducks are in the same bracket as Memphis, Texas and Stanford, with Memphis being a likely second round match up.
Hopefully Mitch Platt and StingRay Schafer will lead us to victory.
If they’re shooting very well they could potentially beat Missouri. But teams that are entirely dependent on high percentage jump shooting and horrible at defense are not built for the long haul of the tournament, because ever And when the team shooting is off you have games like this one.
Hopefully, Michael Dunigan will substantially change things.
Ian, stop subscribing to the Jacob May newsletter. You know how well Big Ern coaches when his job is on the line. The Ducks obviously have to play their best ball to stand up against the Tigers, but everyone knows that when the Ducks are on they can play with anyone in the country.
It’s incredible that a team as thoroughly mediocre as the Ducks is actually in the tournament. Miss St. is beatable, but if they have to play Memphis it will get ugly real quick.
I’m calling Ducks over Mississippi St. 94-73, with Schafer and Platt coming off the bench for a combined 50 points.
