Six Pounds Of Weed In A Shopping Cart

Medical marijuana: Bill O’Reilly versus Reason‘s Nick Gillespie and, for the government, Andrea Barthwell, here.

Notice how long it doesn’t take for Barthwell to bring up the “selling drugs to schoolchildren” trope.

(Incidentally, this story says one pound rather than six. Is it a different measure? Or did “shopping cart” just sound better than “shopping basket”? I can’t be bothered to check.)

  1. Sam says:

Shamen eh? I can’t help thinking of the Ebenezer good kind. I imagine a pound of weed is actually quite a lot in size, although I’ve never thought about it in terms of how many school children it could get high. Where I live the kids can really smoke a lot, and it seems I’m a nervous wreck after smoking anything these days.

Also I might be one of the few that would argue about the cocaine making him feel better, amazing even.

  2. Olly says:

Commenting on my own post, but what the hell. Thus Barthwell:”No one would argue that cocaine would make [MS sufferer Montel Williams] feel better. Are we trying to make that medicine too?”Actually, cocaine wouldn’t ease the pain of MS; it’s a local anaesthetic. (And, yes, medicine.) They’re talking about neurological pain.

  3. Timothy says:

It seems she’s never considered that maybe school children need drugs!

I thought it was that health care providers (not patients) could possess 1 lb.

And, anyway, 6 lbs. would not come close to filling two shopping carts–not even if they were those kiddie size ones at Trader Joe’s.

I resent the implication that shamans are pushovers when it comes to pot. My shaman won’t even consider medical marijuana without a note from atleast 2 spirit guides and a palm reading from a qualified specialist. As proof note that he turned down Montel Williams!
