Rest in Peace, Joe
Joe Ryan, aka Viggy “Supafreak” James, friend of the Oregon Commentator and venerable contributor of haiku to the “Nobody Asked Us…” pages of the Beutler era, passed away yesterday. OC alumnus Brandon has written a fine post in remembrance of Joe.
Oh my God, “eat a bowl of fuck” is actually a quote from a ridiculous late-’80s horror movie my former roommates were fond of (can’t remember the name now, though). Or maybe it was “big bowl of fuck.”
It doesn’t matter; it sounds like Joe was a great and funny guy. I’m sorry to hear the awful news.
I think Dan shares some of the credit for getting Joe to submit haikus as Viggy.
But “eat a bowl of fuck” was all Joe.
