Hatoon Killed in Bike Accident

This is currently unsubstantiated, but I have just learned through a chain of friends that the campus figure known as Hatoon was hit by a car while biking on Franklin and later died at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Link to KEZI story here. Video report from KMTR here.

UPDATE: Hatoon’s death has been confirmed. Emerald stories here and here.

  1. Clint T. says:

Yea, I think that’s a responsibility Timmy should have to take on as well.

    Apathy be damned!

    Isn’t that the Commentators motto?

  2. Bob says:

Yes, Timothy. And now that you have been empowered with this medical knowledge, you are probably already designing a program to keep the children of paraniod schizophrenics off of the streets, right? Or, is your response, Timothy, as I have so often observed in life, another cause without an effect? Will I see you on the streets offering help to the helpless? Ha,ha,ha…

  3. Timothy says:

I do hear tell that maybe untreated paranoid schizophrenics don’t make the best parents.

  4. Bob says:

Hatoon has never held a professorship. I have know her, and her son, since 1972. Her daughter was not present then, and, until now, I did not even know that she had a daughter. Hatoon’s son and I were only kids then (I, 12, and he, 11), and Hatoon made for a lousy mother. No food, no decent clothes, no love – lots of instability, though. There were many frightening, and angry outburts, with claims of CIA, or police, attacks being eminent. It is no small miracle that her children have not shown up, recently. I have not seen her son since I was 15. I hope he is doing well, and that his, and his sister’s, minds and souls can finally rest.

    ^^^gee, thanks for the scoop

  6. Big M says:

According to what I heard, she was a former professor.

  7. Timothy says:

Actually “Froghater” isn’t me, though I can agree with the sentiment. And, as I’ve said, my list is a list of hope. How else do you think that Delay and Corey Haim ended up on there?

  8. Pete says:

Tim (Froghater?)… wishing death on Frog seems kind of harsh. But you did put Andrew Sullivan on your death list, which was incredibly heartless/ hilarious.

  9. Froghater says:

please let frog be next, please let frog be next, please let frog be next, please let frog be next, please let frog be next,………………

  10. WWB says:

That’s unfortunate — and strangely, she’s the second person I knew at the UO to die in an auto accident in the past week.

I probably had a dozen converations with her over the years. I don’t quite recall what they were about, and I doubt I even understood them very well back then. Something she once said about children with cartoon eyes did make it into at least one issue of the OC, though. Annoying though she could be, it just won’t be the same without her.

In addition, now is a good time for a certain magazine (hint, hint) to inquire about her relationship to the university, and how she came to be treated by them nearly like a student. The rumor was always that her family had worked something out with the administration, but we never pursued it because we didn’t want to cause trouble for her.

Well, it’s pretty much impossible to cause her trouble now. Someone should start making calls.

  11. Clint T. says:

She made the front page of the ‘ol Dirty.

If thats not a way to go out, I don’t know what is!

..oh wait.. mourning.. right. Let’s remember Hatoon for stealing all the issues out of the PLC “.. (for) making the children of the world born with cartoon eyes..” or something like that.

  12. Big M says:

And to think, just yesterday she was muttering away in the Library.

In a New York Minute, anything can change.

  13. Timothy says:

Dammit, it’s never Frog who gets hit and killed.

  14. Matt says:

Consider it substantiated. Her things have been removed and a notice was posted on the tree near where she lived briefly explaining what happened and asking if anyone knew of family they could contact and such.
