Horowitz Hits Town
Yesterday Pete and Tim and I interviewed David Horowitz before his big speech. The speech more than filled the 150-person room capacity, and a good number of people seemed to be receptive to his message. There were, of course, impolite dissenters including “Angry Black Man” and Don the Amphitheater Hippie, who was verbally bitch slapped by Horowitz during an early attempt to interrupt the discussion. Best hippie quote from the night:
“Who wants freedom if schools don’t have any money?”
Damn provocative, the leftists are. Of course, a large portion of the discussion was the difference between classical liberals and leftists. Olly publicly counted himself as a leftist. For shame!.
Flipping to page 2, on answering why you’re reading SI’s swimsuit edition: She says, “What do you see in those women?” You say, “It’s an aesthetics thing. Like Kant talks about. It’s the fundamental human affinity for curved lines and ideal forms. I look at these pictures as art historical texts, really, exemplars and echoes of what the great masters were after.”
