An obituary for Michael Joyce, the pre-journalism student killed on June 12 when his bicycle collided with automobile driven by another UO student, is up at the Oregon Daily Emerald Web site.
Also, this is an especially stupid thing for a couple of kids to do. I’ll leave it at that.

Michael Joyce is also the name of a fiction writer, and speaking of fiction writers, it’s also the name of a tennis player DFW profiled a few years back. He was ranked #79 then, but seems to have since fallen off the boards.
Anyway, sorry to hear it. For all the number of times I rode my bike drunk around Eugene, I should feel lucky to have escaped with only a few scrapes. And I do.
No one that I know of.
The articles don’t mention that Joyce was intoxicated from a visit to Max’s…the vehicle driver was almost intoxicated from a visit to the Indigo District. Was anyone at Max’s cited?
