A Few Items

First of all, to commenter “Nate”, I apologize. In an effort to curb douchiness, well, let’s just say I upgraded my status from bag to nozzle. Having exchanged some email with the more level-headed folks who also post here, I’m going to just own up and say I did the wrong thing. It’s been known to happen with shocking regularity. So, I’m sorry for that, I’ll be leaving comments alone in the future. Email me this permalink if I ever forget it, eh? And feel free to be snarky.

That brings me to item number two, the comments policy. In short, there will be no comments policy. The Commentator reserves the right to remove things we can all agree shouldn’t be posted: actual spam, nazi propaganda, racist bull, links to Barry Manilow songs, etc, but beyond that consider this the official reestablishment of an “open and unmoderated” policy. WordPress automatically moderates anything with more than two links in it, I (or somebody else) will probably get around to approving those every so often, but I can’t make any promises on timeliness.

Anyway, that’s that, I’ll be seeing you. Probably not, really, but you know.

  1. Timothy says:

You can get away with it this once, Manilow. But know that the silent helicopters are coming for you.

  2. Barry Manilow says:

    [Spoken:]
    Her name is… Lola!
    She’s from Tulsa.. yeah!
Just arrived, two suitcases in hand
And a dream in her heart

    Just arrived track seventeen
All the way from Tulsa Okla-nowhere
    Where’s her chauffeured limousine?
    Where’s the marching band?
Just in time to take the town
And though her knees are shaking
    She’s making her stand

    It all starts now
I can see her name in neon
    I won’t allow
    Anyone to disagree
    Don’t ask me how
    But before too long
    She’ll be on some marquee
    New York or bust!
    She’s just arrived!

    Just arrived track seventeen
    (Just arrived track twenty four)
All the way from Tulsa Oklahoma
(All the way from St. Paul, Minnesota)
(All the way from Fargo, North Dakota)
Though she’s still a little green
    (Marching through the open door)
When she left, she left her past behind
    (Wonder what she’ll find)
Just imagine, here she is the girl from work
    (The soda jerk)
    (The groc’ry clerk)

The kid they all made fun of
    Is one of a kind

    It all starts now
    Look who’s currently appearing
    This girl’s a wow
    All the magazines agree
    She’ll take her bow
And the world will all be cheering, wait and see
    New York or bust
    She’s just arrived

    Hey!
    (Hey! which way’s uptown?)
Somebody said they’re auditioning for “south pacific”
    (Where’s the palace?)
    Say!
    (Hey!, she’s from Dallas!)
Somewhere I read they need lookers and she looks terrific
    (That one’s Alice!)
    This is her moment
    (Hey, world here I come!)
She knows it she can taste it
And she sure ain’t gonna waste it
Cause it’s time she faced it

    It all starts now
    (Right now!)
I can see her name in neon
(I can see her name in blazing neon)
    This girl’s a wow
    (And how!)
    All the magazines agree
(No way anyone would dare to disagree)
    She’ll take her bow
    (Oh, wow!)
And before too long she’ll be on some marquee

    Gathering dust
    She just survived
    Now, New York or bust
    She’s just arrived!
    Hey world
    She’s just arrived!

  3. Ian says:

Pete- It’s probably either the video card or one of the video cables inside. Whichever the case, it’s not good because iMacs are a costly pain in the ass to repair.

  4. Pete says:

Good call. A comments section without scorching invective and incendiary personal attacks? Boo. I was about ready to move the Huffington Post up a notch on my bookmark list.

Also, dudes, anybody know why my iMac monitor keeps flashing green for half a second? No flashback jokes. Is it just a loose wire or something?

  5. Amy says:

    Thanks, Ian!

  6. Ian says:

Amy- It’s unfortunately taking a bit longer than we had first expected (which really should’ve been our tagline this year.) We’re hoping to have the electronic version out this week and the dead tree version out either by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. Also, we’ll be putting some of the upcoming content online in the next couple of days.

  7. Timothy says:

That I have no idea about, ask Ian 🙂

  8. Amy says:

I agree. Thanks for doing the honorable thing. Question, though – when does the next issue of the OC come out?

  9. HardCorps says:

wow. It takes an honorable to be able to admit a mistake. You are now a better man for it though. Power is the goal of the wicked.
