“My Dinner with Jack”

This is a little outdated, and many of you who are “in the know”, so to speak, have probably already read it. Nonetheless, this is the cover story for the March third issue of the Weekly Standard, written by Oregon Commentator alum Mark Hemingway. It’s already gotten some play in the blogosphere from the likes of Hit and Run and the Volokh Conspiracy, and in my opinion it’s easily the funniest and most interesting article about that unlovable lobbying loser. I mean, it’s all about the making of Abramoff’s Dolph Lundgren film vehicle Red Scorpion. Awesome

  1. bryan says:

    Preternatural. Duh.

  2. bryan says:

Say what you will– but Abramoff displayed, in the following bit of dialogue, that preturnatural knack for boiling cold war tensions down to their very essence that earns him his standing as a true American patriot:

    M. Emmet Walsh: It’s a little something we like to call freedom of speech, which I’m sure you Russians aren’t real familiar with!
Dolph Lundgren: We are free to swear.
    M. Emmet Walsh: Well yippee dee fuck! Guess I got you bastards figured out wrong after all! … I’ll take the first watch. Shit! … Shit! Shit! Shit!
    Dolph Lundgren: Noisy little fuck.
