Shooting at Virgina Tech
As now the reports are 30+ dead and another two dozen wounded in a rampage shooting. The Brady Campaign has already issued a pretty odious press-release to use this awful event as fodder for their political agenda. My condolences to the families and victims not only for the shooting, but also for becoming the latest unwilling faces for a hot-button issue in American politics. I heard from my friend yesterday that in the two hours between the shootings at the dormitory and the continued rampage at the school hall, the guy ‘Fed-Ex’ed video footage of himself to NBC studios.
The footage was his rant about how society had shunned him, and the prejudice of rich, white kids constantly oppressing him. Most interesting is the fact that he used the words (Ibid.) “you could have prevented this…”
This leads me to a *serious* concern….after the dorm shootings, this guy was able to make it out and remain concealed enough to purchase a mailing box from (I’m assuming) aa highly populated area), and that he was simply able to blend back into the public scene as just another solitary figure.
I would think that *SOMEONE* would have spotted him, or knew something about it. And furthermore, since he was able to blend back into the public mass so well, what would have happened if he did not choose to continue at the school hall? These are serious security issues to question.

It’s strange, I used to read H&R daily (not anymore, for no particular reason), and the commenters always seemed slightly unhinged. The commenters seem absolutely nutty, though.
It’s head-shakingly disturbing how quickly a tragedy can be transformed into something political. It’s also incredible that there was apparently a period of two hours that occured between shootings and somehow the campus police and the VT administration didn’t issue any alerts not to go to class.
