Press Conference at 3:30: Knight to dish out the cash
Apparently, Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny has better things to do than meet with the Oregon Commentator. When OC Editor In Chief Ossie Bladine, that’s me, showed up for a scheduled 2 p.m. meeting today, he was kindly told that Kilkenny must reschedule due to a press conference today at 3:30 p.m. Bladine spit and cursed loudly on his way out the Cassanova Center.
An anonymous source to the Register Guard stated that the athletic department will announce a $100 million gift from Phil Knight to go toward the building of a new basketball arena. Check back to the OC blog for a full report of the conference.
In other sports news, UC Irvine baseball head coach Dave Serrano is in Eugene today and tomorrow to discuss the open position as the skipper for Ducks baseball. Serrano was named the 2007 Coach of the Year by Baseball America and led the Anteaters to the College World Series in only his third season as coach.
