What? Baseball players use steroids?

Baseball released the Mitchell Report yesterday.  The investigation led by former U.S. senator George Mitchell linked 85 former and current players to steroid use in the last 10 years.  The list also included the names of 31 all-stars and seven MVPs.

Among those named, Roger Clemens stands out the most.  Former Yankee and Blue Jay trainer Brian McNamee said he personally injected the seven-time Cy Young award winner with steroids along with former Clemens teammate Andy Pettitte.

While steroid use in baseball comes as no surprise, it will be interesting to see how baseball officials react to this new slew of accusations, especially when it comes to Clemens.

As a pitcher, Clemens has had a career on par with that of Barry Bonds.  Clemens ranks 8th all time in wins, and is one of only four pitchers to strike out more than 4,000 in his career.

It should be fun to watch the media and the commissioner’s office trip over themselves as they try to react to the Clemens accusation with the same kind of venom and vitriol they showed Barry Bonds.

  1. Jo says:

Bonds is indeed an asshat (I’ve gotta say, Timothy, “douchefuck” may be the best word I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I must remember to incorporate that into my vocabulary.) Clemens is a bit of a surprise, but I’ve never cared one way or the other about him, except that I hate the Yankees, so I root against him.

  2. Vincent. says:

I also no speako Ingles, either, it seems.

  3. Vincent. says:

I never much like Roger Clemens either, to tell the truth.

  4. Timothy says:

You know, the horseshit thing in all of this is that up until like two years ago IT WAS NOT AGAINST THE RULES OF THE MLB TO USE STEROIDS! SHUT THE FUCK UP, SENATOR. SHUT THE FUCK UP RIGHT NOW.

And everyone knows the reason to hate on Bonds is that he’s a douchefuck to fans and got a special exception for that hit-enhancing piece of elbow armor he wears at the plate.
