Happy Veterans Day

We here at the Oregon Commentator would like to give out a big thanks to all those who have served and are currently serving in the military. Thank You all.

Here are a bunch of videos of service men being greeted by their dogs after returning fromĀ  duty to tug on your heartstrings.

I guess I should add that the last bit wasn’t part of the press release…just in case some troll reads this.

  2. C.T. Behemoth says:

I think it’s worth mentioning here that the Telling Project, which was initiated by UO veterans in the VFSA, was invited to Washington, D.C. and they performed today for the first and second ladies (among others). If I find a place where this was saved, I’ll forward a link. The project has been pretty amazing, and while I can only say that a couple of my own stories made the final cut, the people who have performed this (here and the group in Portland) really deserve some credit.

    Here is the press release:

On this Veterans’ Day, as part of Mission Serve, an event recognizing civilian military partnerships in national service, a version of “Telling” will be live-streamed via the web beginning at 2pm EST. Sharing the stage with “Telling” will be First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden.Mission Serve will take place on the George Washington University campus in Washington, DC, and is sponsored by ServiceNation, Blue Star Families and the National Student Veterans Association. This live-stream will be carried by websites across the nation, including MTV.com, ServiceNation.org, The Sierra Club, The University of Oregon and Oregon Public Broadcasting.

In advance of this live-stream, Oregon Public Broadcasting is dedicating daily morning program “Think Out Loud” to Telling Project veteran participants. Beginning with a short live interview via phone with The Telling Project cast and crew in Washington, DC, the host Sarah Rothenfluch will then switch focus to Jacob Meeks, Joe Cantrell and Kevin Hershey in-studio for a conversation about military experience and coming home. “Think Out Loud” will take place at 9am PST, 12 noon EST. Tune in at OPB.org.

So, big up yourself and respek…Booyakasha!
