Former UO Adjunct Professor Bill Hillar Arrested In Maryland

ABC is reporting the arrest of former UO Adjunct Professor Bill Hillar in Millersville, Maryland. Hillar was under investigation for defrauding students into believing he was a member of the US Army Special Forces and that the movie “Taken” was based on his life.

    Sorry, I shouldn’t be so over the top there. Title-wise, professor implies an advanced degree and a regular position in a college (though in the US we’re pretty loose with calling folks professor nominally). This guy just taught some of those SASS weekend short-credit classes, which bring in experts on the subjects covered. Mostly I don’t want the impression to hold that he’s got some sort of connection to the U beyond fooling them on his expertise.

    Gosh, I’m sorry. I had heard from the media relations people I talked to he was an adjunct professor. Did I receive misinformation?

    Come on, OC: Adjunct instructor and adjunct professor are two wildly different things.
