Dyke to retire

Frances Dyke

One of the University of Oregon’s most powerful administrators will step down in Jan. 2012, she announced today.

Vice President for Finance and Administration Frances Dyke controls the university’s budget, giving her wide authority over the school’s affairs. Her performance has been widely criticized, to the extent that UO Matters says she has to have been effectively fired (and UO Matters it was who broke this story first).

Critics have blamed her, in part for, among other things, the secrecy of the university’s financial affairs, giving large contracts and golden parachutes to high-ranking administrators, creating financial relationships that put the university at the mercy of large donors, dwindling faculty pay, and the Mike Belotti handshake agreement.

    Bubeye….in other related news here is the date for two hearings about the Latest PHIT LLC / UO Foundation sports porker deal. If you like ORI building on that toxic dump you will love the proposal for the area directly across from the proposed ORI site. But- before I forget- why the fuck cant any reporter ever ask the ORI goons what they are doing with the current building once it is replaced ? IT IS PAINFULLY FUCKING OBVIOUS IT WILL GO TO THE UO FOUNDATION real estate speculator team because it is DIRECTLY ACROSS from the controversial Jock box. Back to Cas extreme overhaul and likely court challenge issue: Hearings are at 5pm on 3-16 at the Atrium building. The outcomes of the two hearings are subject to appeal. Lost your tailgating spot lately? Want to hold PK and CK by the nuts until you get it back ? Appeal this and you are less likely to have all your drunk asses gentrified straight into the river. If you live near Autzen….condolences.

    She’s also known for giving away the UO riverfront to the world’s largest real-estate developer for about 1/10th of the value of the land. Not to mention that the UO has to pay for infrastructure.

    The headline is much more entertaining than the story.

    But, then again, you can’t really say Dyke. You can’t even say Lesbian. It’s women in comfortable shoes, thank you.
