Senate?

Due to the Noam Chomsky event on campus this evening, it is questionable whether or not the Senate will have a quorum for its regularly scheduled meeting tonight. Follow along here.

  1. EPT says:

That’s one of the saddest pieces of “literature” I’ve read, addendum.

  2. The Shadow Government says:

    We’re on to you, George.

  3. george beres says:

Noam Chomsky is the most significant guest speaker at the UO in my 35 years here. His wisdom should be shared with everyone. But the Register-Guard did not help, having absolutely no coverage of his talk, which drew so many people that most could not get in. The lineup– four abreast– stretched all the way down to the Bookstore. The Guard is an unfortunate collaborator with the worst right winger in any community, the Chamber of Commerce, which fears anything Chomsky might say. – George Beres

  4. Jay Knott says:

The Emerald mindlessly describes Chomsky as a ‘political dissident’. For decades, people like Jeff Blankfort have been trying to get him to answer the ‘Israel Lobby’ hypothesis (he says the dog wags the tail, that Israel serves bad old Uncle Sam imperialism and so on).

There’s a good response to Chomsky’s lobby-denying ways on the site ‘Dissident Voice’, but I won’t link to it, as I wrote the article, and I wouldn’t want to be accused of immodesty.

  5. JMB says:

Who the fuck cares about what Noam Chomsky has to say other than idealistic liberal arts majors who don’t need to spend any time doing homework due to their soft course loads? Oh wait, I just described most of the ASUO senate. Carry on then.
